If you are looking for a way to make a container more interesting you can try planting a fairy garden. Basically this is just a normal planter with added items like a miniature house and fairy figures. This video from Garden Answers shows you how to do it.
Apart from the fairy house you will need various plants including a blue spruce, daffodils, heuchera, box, fern and primrose. Many of these will outgrow the container and the video explains that this is intended to be planted up for display in spring and early summer only after which the plants can be moved elsewhere. Watch the video below and see what you think.
