While the one plant that is always mentioned as suitable for growing in shade is the Hosta, there are several others described in this video which are less well known. In this video Dick Campbell takes us a tour of his backyard pointing out the shade loving plants. We start with Ligularia which has large leaves on red stems and yellow flowers. This is followed by Fernleaf Buckthorn and Japanese Larch which is also happy in sun. Solomons Seal, Rudbeckia, Hosta and Dogwood come next. Tree Peony, Diablo Ninebark and Grapevine complete the list. To see these plants and appreciate how well they grow together go to the next page to watch Dick Campbell show them off.
