Usually when I post about a top ten list the selection is the choice of one individual, but in this case the garden paths described below have been chosen by visitors to the website hosting the photos. There are a wide range of different designs all the way from ultra modern to solid traditional and it’s fascinating to see which are the more popular. The list has been compiled by Annie Thornton and the paths are described in her article which comes from the Houzz website.

A memorable garden experience begins as soon as you cross the curb or sidewalk. The path guiding you to your journey?s end is a crucial part of that experience, so it?s important to give its design some thought. Presented in descending order are the most popular garden paths uploaded to Houzz in 2016 ? whimsical and elegant, reliably leading to their destination.

10. Offset geometry. A staggered path of oversize concrete pavers leads to the front door of this Las Vegas home. Alternating path lights accentuate the desert walk?s meandering quality and illuminate the hardscape textures, while integrated step lights along a straight axis draw visitors back toward the home.

9. Pastoral walk. It doesn?t get much more idyllic than strolling along a tree-lined gravel path. Beneath a canopy of well-manicured trees, mounding leafy plants spill over the path?s edge in this German garden, softening the boundary between hardscape and landscape
