General garden maintenance involves pruning and cutting back plants and shrubs which results in piles of stems and twigs that have to be dealt with. While some may be suitable for the compost bin others will need an alternative means of disposal. In fact it is often possible to use many of the sticks cut from shrubs as supports for flowers in the border. This article by Tanya Anderson which I found on the Lovely Greens website suggests more imaginative ways of using your sticks and twigs.
