While no plants are truly deer proof because a hungry animal will eat almost anything, the twenty-one plants on this list have proved to be less susceptible to damage. They include plants with soft hairy or prickly leaves and those that are strongly scented. These deer resistant plants are described in an article by Lynne Cherot which I found on her Sensible Gardening website.
When it comes to deer, nothing is totally sacred. I?m convinced a hungry deer will just about eat anything. Of course, they do have favorites and many plants are seldom if ever bothered by them.
Deer do not like fuzzy, prickly or bristly plants. Plants with soft hairy leaves or raspy leaves are not a favorite. Some of my favourite plants that fall into this category are:
Lambs Ears
Rudbeckia
Poppies
Echinacea
